Bottle Feeding Newborn Puppies
Bottle Feeding your puppies - the picture you see above is after I had fed 9 pups and they are satisfied, well fed and asleep - Most baby dogs will let you know when they have had enough to eat, they just fall asleep. .

Mom is probably rolling around in the grass and taking long drinks of water and this is when I usually feed her. Every thing is quiet for about 2 hours so make the most of it.
Bottle feeding day old puppies.
After you have all your tools, warm milk, extra nipples (funny how we need extras) lots of towels because puppies are messy and lots of love.
Get a little carrying case for all your supplies because once you start feeding you don’t want to be running around the house with one puppy and the rest of them crawling around and getting into places they should not be in, like under the sofa!
Find a comfortable place to sit and get a towel and place it in your lap. Get the smallest and weakest puppy and wrap it in a towel or cradle it in your arms on it’s back and coax the baby to start feeding. It won’t be hard. If they are not sleeping they are hungry all the time!

Some puppies will not feed on their back so let them find their comfortable position and let them find the nipple. They will start sucking on the bottle and as long as you see bubbles forming in the bottle and the puppy is not straining, then you know the nipple is allowing the formula to flow into the babies mouth and in about 10 to 15 minutes your puppy should finish a premie bottle of formula.
The puppy will start to fall asleep and let go of the nipple. At this point the puppy will probably need to pee so put him on a towel and gently massage his/her genitals so the baby is able to relieve him/her self. The mother will lick the baby’s genitals to encourage the puppy to pee. I don’t think you want to do this so take a very soft wet warm towel and encourage the puppy to pee. Then when this has had a happy ending, wash the puppy’s genitals and stomach (because puppies are messy) in warm water, dry him off with a soft towel and lay him down for his nap. He should sleep for 2 to 3 hours depending on how old he is.
Next go get the next smallest puppy and begin to feed following the instructions above. Do this until every puppy is asleep and have round bellies.
Remember, don’t go crazy! Call a friend, a relative, whom ever you can to help you out. This is a lot of work and besides the lady who just had way too many babies, humans don’t have to do this very often! Thank goodness!
Now that the babies are asleep, is your chance to clean out the room or area the mother and babies have been living in. pick up the towels and wash them.
Mop the floor until it is clean and then dry it.
Feed the mother dog or Bitch as they call it in professional terms and give her a run in the yard or take her for a walk. She will really appreciate it.
If she is a mess, give her a bath. Dogs like to be clean. Yeah, they may like to dig up your flower beds but they are happiest when they are clean.
